Science

We aim for our children to leave the school as confident and enthusiastic scientists who recognise the importance of this field, as well as realising its power to make the world a better place. We want pupils to feel that Science is ‘for them’ and to develop an interest which allows them to take this further as they move onto the next stage of their education and future careers.

Implementation

Our children benefit from weekly science lessons with practical activities which follow their lines of enquiry. This helps them to develop their problem-solving skills and their ability to work collaboratively. It also improves resilience and confidence as the children learn from their successes and from their mistakes.

Our science curriculum is sequential and progressive and ensures that all children receive excellent opportunities to learn conceptual knowledge and understanding whilst developing their scientific skills and raising their awareness of a range of scientists, past and present.

Our science curriculum is based upon the Grammarsaurus scheme but has been adapted to meet the needs of our children and to ensure we utilise learning outside the classroom in our extensive school grounds.
