Outdoor Learning

We are fortunate to have extensive school grounds, nearly 5.5 acres, which provide children with a wealth and variety of outdoor spaces to explore and learn from. Our Outdoor Learning curriculum aims to take full advantage of this unparalleled access to nature, ensuring that children learn about the processes which underpin the natural world, such as life cycles and food webs, through close contact and observation; we believe children learn best when they are taught in engaging, purposeful contexts. We also have a focus on building resilience, independence and collaboration through teaching bushcraft skills, such as making campfires, tool use or den building.  Skills such as these allow children to develop a healthy understanding of risk management in a safe context: an invaluable life skill.

Our school site has been designed to maximise outdoor learning opportunities across the curriculum including an orienteering course, an outdoor classroom, pond and wildlife area and our developing small holding and allotment.
